Minister of Agriculture Dragan Glamocic has said that food in Serbia is safe and emphasized that the relevant Ministry is working hard to raise its quality to an even higher level.

Speaking during a press conference marking International Day of the Sava River - June 1 - Glamocic said that products containing palm oil, that is, other vegetable oils, must comply with regulation governing food safety, and that the business entity that puts these products on the market is responsible for that.

He pointed out that the regulation on additional requirements related to products containing palm and other vegetable oils and fats will enter into force on August 1, but that everyone should be given time to adapt to it.

"In stores, it will be mandatory to put these products in separate areas - they cannot be sold in the same place as dairy products," said Glamocic.

The minister stressed that he believes that some business entities will already in the coming weeks start marking their products as his ministry has recommended.
